Summary of his life
Claudius Ptolemy
Ptolemy (born Claudius Ptolemy) was a Greek astronomer and mathematician who lived from 85 AD to 165 AD. His name is slightly confusing to people who did not know he was from Greece, because Claudius means a citizen of Rome, but Ptolemy means of Egyptian descent. Ptolemy created several theories in his lifetime, which had a great impact on Greece at the time. Ptolemy also invented a word, epicycle which means the circular motion in which an object travels. Did you know that he was also the first one to invent horoscopes? It's true! Although some of Ptolemy's theories were disproved, we, the people of modern day, can still learn a lot from him and if you would like to, then just click the button at the top! Seriously click it.
